Alcohol is used in many haircare products and there has been a constant debate into whether it is good or bad for your curls.
What’s the truth?
Well it’s kind of complicated because there are good alcohols and bad alcohols, I’ve listed some below so you can have a better idea of what to look out for.
(Do not panic or obsess over this, if you use them it’s not the end of the world but I would be more weary when you have damaged hair that you want to transform.).
Good Alcohols:
Keeps oils together and creates the products consistency.
- Cetyl alcohol
- Stearyl alcohol
- Myristyl alcohol
- Lauryl alcohol

Bad Alcohols:
Cause dryness and breakage when used over time.
- SD Alcohol 40
- Ethanol
